Fire doors and fire stopping

A fire door only works if the whole set is right: leaf, frame, seals, closer and gaps.

We inspect, install and maintain fire doors and carry out fire stopping. Our fire door maintenance holds BM TRADA Q-Mark certificate 532, with Ryan Owens as the approved person (No. 189).

What we do

  • Fire door inspection and reports
  • Installation of certificated fire doorsets
  • Maintenance: seals, closers, gaps, signage
  • Fire stopping of service penetrations

Good for

Blocks of flats, offices, schools, hospitals and stations.

Asked and answered.

How often should fire doors be checked?

In a block of flats whose top storey is more than 11 metres above ground, communal fire doors at least every three months, and flat entrance doors at least every year on a best endeavours basis (Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022). Elsewhere, as your fire risk assessment sets. Our fire door planner works out a schedule for your building.

Why does Q-Mark matter?

It is a third-party, UKAS-accredited scheme. It shows our installers and maintainers are audited, which building owners and insurers ask for. Our fire door maintenance certificate is current; the fire stopping certificate expired in May 2024 and its renewal is to be confirmed.

What is fire stopping?

Sealing gaps where pipes and cables pass through fire-rated walls and floors, so fire and smoke cannot pass.
